Each tree felled in a cyclone, became each beam hand picked. Treenails fasten exposed traditional joinery complementing earthen stone surrounds. The character kitchen reminiscent of Dewis place of origin speaks of a Welsh cottage setting. The chestnut dresser stunningly arrayed with hand thrown clayware used in service. Each made by a maker. This is a sense of place with crafted ambience wherever you look.
Jen has always had an eye for styling the Barn. She looks for uniquely hand made objects, hand thrown clayware, stone pots, hessian matting, leather suites, wool throws, linen bedding, and objects from another purpose. Repurposing these vintage finds with thoughtful placement, the natural tones and textures speak a rustic luxury. She forages for wild flowers growing in the landscape, arranging them for their complementary freshly plucked charm. Her mantel reflects the pottage garden brimming with lemons, herbage and cut flowers, mint and geranium bobbing at the big barn door entrance. The large open ground floor is naturally lit by a spectacular solarium, leading to a panoramic view of the mountains. This is pure serenity. Many a guest has stood at this vista and just soaked in its magnificent nature rhythms taking place. Ducks landing on the trough and hares bobbing across the velvet fields. grassheads swaying in the breeze. The scent of geranium in the wind.
We have six rooms with eight beds, over three levels. This grand Barn exudes robustness.
Candles are lit and music is well chosen to create the ambience of a thoughtfully designed destination stay.
Its always about how we make you feel.
